Senator Jean Roesser, R-Potomac, District 15:

Statement to Marylanders for a Second Crossing Montgomery County’s traffic congestion cannot be solved by any one project or transportation improvement. A comprehensive study and plan is required.

I have long supported the construction of the InterCounty Connector and mass transit improvements. It remains to be seen if another Potomac River Crossing linking Northern Virginia with Montgomery County would achieve the desired reduction in traffic flow on I-270 and the American Legion Bridge.

I am committed to preserving Montgomery County’s County Agricultural Reserve. At the same time we must look for ways to ease the traffic congestion that Montgomery County families deal with on a daily basis. I am committed to striking that balance.

(Note: Mrs. Roesser does not support the study of additional Potomac River crossings between Montgomery County and Virginia. She has voted against supporting a study.)
