For the Children

It may excite the thousands of gun-grabbers to claim their efforts are to save our children but to millions of other Americans it is an embarrassment, in the same way as their claims - yet again - to be, unlike you and me, working against violence.

By repeating "for the children" or "against gun violence" often enough they hope to turn it into a reality.

No work is entailed other than pass a law. All the law-breakers will suddenly give up their guns. Peace will reign -- violence vanquished.

It's a case of "incessant belief laboring to create its object". It is naive fantasy!

It is also criminal stupidity, and not demonstrated anywhere, to believe that placing legal restrictions on the people who would actually obey a gun law will reduce violence or save lives.
