Senator Patrick J. Hogan, R-Montgomery Village, District 39:
"I am frustrated as many are with the growing traffic congestion in the Washington Metropolitan Area. I have and will continue to strive to get Maryland and Virginia working as a region to solve these massive traffic problems. It is very frustrating when the Governor who controls the Department of Transportation refuses to even complete the study of the ICC. I believe we must build an integrated transportation system of roads and cost effective useable mass transit that links our region and does not stifle the economic growth that is the engine driving the economy of our state and country. Minor band aid approaches have not and will not work to solve these major transportation problems. I know that the American Legion Bridge cannot and never will be able to handle the amount of traffic that exists and will exist. Therefore, I do support a new Potomac Crossing and will support that in every manner possible. I also continue to stress the need for an ICC or what I would call the BWI access road that would truly connect the I-270 and I-95 corridors which would improve traffic flow and also retain and create jobs closer to our homes. Thank you for your activism on this issue and I will continue to do everything I can to solve this problem."
