WASHINGTON D.C., May 13, 2001
Metro Area
The Washington, D.C. Metro Area march/rally was a success.
We were covered by all of the local stations, the Hispanic station, CBS evening news, NY PBS and a number of other print and television media.
There were approximately 300 marchers. The visual, however, with the "handprints for peace" banner carried by Montgomery County students, was remarkable!
Speakers included survivors of gun violence, Mayor Williams and his mom, Congresswoman Norton, William Bronrott (Md., Delegate), Maudine Cooper (Pres.. CEO Urban League), students and other high-profile Metro educators/residents..
There was "high" energy at our rally. Overall, the reviews were good.
